More nurses plan ballots over 1% pay award

More nurses' trade unions are planning to take action in protest at the 1% pay award recommended by the nurses' pay review body. The review body recommended that an additional increase of between 0.5% and 2% could be negotiated locally. The Royal College of Nursing has already announced that it will reconsider its no strike policy (25 February, p 485). The college wants a guarantee from the health secretary that “3% will be delivered in full by every trust for every nurse.”
