The South African government has appointed a committee to investigate and report on funding options for its proposed national health plan. The government believes that the health plan would address the difficulties in the present health care system. For example costs are soaring for those people covered in private health care schemes (largely the white population), while the majority of the country is without adequate access to any form of health care.
