    My elderly neighbour was offended when her grandchildren sent word processed Christmas thank you letters. But these youngsters learnt the keyboard at mother's knee, and by the time they emerge from medical school paperless consultations will be the norm. Paperless, that is, save for a ream or two in the printer tray. I am no technophobe, but as a compulsive doodler and self styled cartoonist I will rue the day when the pen and scribbler are finally superseded by the macro key and screen saver.
