“Subconsultant” posts are increasing dramatically

    EDITOR,—The declared intent of both the government and the medical profession is the expansion of the consultant grade1 2 3; Plan for Action proposed the mechanisms for this.2 The staff grade was a response to the need for a non-consultant or subconsultant career grade.
