    EDITOR,—As Naomi Craft and colleagues' articles illustrate, many of the forebodings about the damaging consequences of the legislation imposed in 1990 are being realised.1 It is a little noted irony of history that the first (Guy's/Lewisham) trust, formed in the usual effusion of glossy covered, management inspired, Madison Avenue hyperbole promising the institution a great and prosperous future and the local population ever improving care, should be the first to be dismembered.
