British heart surgeon suspended over bribery charge: Mr Unnikrishnan Nair, a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Killingbeck Hospital in Leeds, has been suspended on full pay while the police investigate an allegation that he accepted payment to move a patient up his NHS waiting list. The hospital said that the inquiry was not one of professional competence and that Mr Nair would continue to practise privately.
