Government clarifies long term NHS care

Criticism that the NHS is neglecting the long term health care of elderly people has prompted the Department of Health to clarify its responsibilities. As a result, health authorities are being told to reassess their provision for long term health care. But the Labour opposition and voluntary organisations say that many ambiguities remain.
