The most expensive private hospital to be built in Britain has abandoned the use of paper medical records after developing what it claims is the first fully integrated computer based records system in the world. The specialists who have worked on the project believe that it signals the end of cumbersome and inefficient paper based records and that the system should be available at a price that can be afforded by most Western hospitals.
