Australia's new federal health minister, Dr Carmen Lawrence, has taken over the controversial post with plans to make men's health a priority. Dr Lawrence, who in 1990 became the nation's first woman state premier and is tipped as a future prime minister, has also scotched her predecessor's proposals to introduce a higher Medicare levy for the rich.
