    “Britain's hidden epidemic - asthma. One child in seven already suffers, and the number is growing all the time. As doctors seek a cause, could the answer lie with the air we breathe?” Panorama's answer to this initial question was an unequivocal “yes,” and a lot else followed. The programme touched the increasing prevalence of asthma, the causes of asthma, the adequacy (or otherwise) of Britain's air quality monitoring, and - rather less enthusiastically - the methods and cost of controlling pollution.
