Helen Crisp appointed as new Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Open Quality

BMJ, a leading healthcare knowledge provider, is pleased to announce Helen Crisp as the new Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Open Quality.

Helen Crisp is an expert in quality improvement in healthcare, working as a writer and editor, strategic consultant, programme developer and trainer.

Her experience includes eight years as Assistant Director of Research at the Health Foundation, London, UK, where she managed a big grants programme for research into patient safety, quality improvement methods and person-centred care. Prior to this, she worked in healthcare accreditation for 15 years, developing quality standards and assessment processes for acute hospitals, mental health services, hospices, care homes and primary care.

Helen brings a wealth of experience to the journal having also led NHS service reviews, and national improvement programmes for professional associations in the UK and internationally. BMJ Open Quality is a new open access journal dedicated to publishing high quality, peer reviewed healthcare improvement work. It welcomes articles covering original research, local, national and international quality improvement (QI) projects, value-based healthcare improvement initiatives and educational improvement work.

Helen Crisp says: “I am delighted to be the new Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Open Quality. I look forward to making this online resource the go-to place for healthcare professionals to showcase and share their quality improvement initiatives. The more widely we share these ideas, the more they will contribute to improving health for all.”
