BMJ Open Quality joins growing portfolio of more than 60 specialist journals
Leading healthcare knowledge provider BMJ today launches BMJ Open Quality an open access journal dedicated to publishing high quality, peer reviewed healthcare improvement work.
It welcomes articles covering original research, local, national and international quality improvement (QI) projects, value-based healthcare improvement initiatives and educational improvement work.
BMJ Open Quality provides a wide range of online resources such as videos, blogs, podcasts and templates to help health professionals run and write up quality improvement projects.
The journal adheres to a rigorous and transparent peer review process and papers are considered on the basis of methodological soundness rather than priority or novelty.
And in common with BMJ’s other titles, it will operate a fast submission and review process with continuous publication online, to ensure that timely, up-to-date research is available worldwide.
BMJ Open Quality is edited by Jessamy Bagenal, a general surgical registrar who is passionate about quality improvement in the NHS.
Miss Bagenal says she is excited about the direction of BMJ Open Quality and providing an interactive resource for frontline clinicians. “This will be a superb platform for supporting health professionals and showcasing quality improvement initiatives across the world,” she explains. “The more widely this work can be shared, the more it will contribute to improving health for all.”
