Though he would have become famous in any medical specialty, John Horder chose general practice, thereby ensuring that a then lacklustre part of medicine acquired both prestige and academic excellence and became respected nationally and internationally. He lobbied hard for the organisation that eventually became the Royal College of General Practitioners and served as its president. |
