As secretary of state Barbara Castle described negotiating with Anthony Grabham (when he was chairman of council of the BMA) as like being "shot at with silver bullets." Remarkably he has managed to combine a busy life as a surgeon with the wider world of medical politics, being a tireless negotiator at first for hospital specialists and later for the whole profession. Most recently he has entered the business world and is a director of Private Patients Plan. |
