Two thirds of district general hospitals in Wales have death rates that are higher than predicted by risk adjusted figures, show mortality data made public for the first time this week.1 2

Six of Wales’s seven local health boards published risk adjusted mortality index figures on their websites for individual hospitals as part of the Welsh government’s commitment to improving availability of information. The seventh board, Powys Teaching, doesn’t have any district general hospitals (those that provide acute and secondary or tertiary care).
