Number of people with dementia will reach 65.7 million by 2030, says report

Developing countries will be hit hardest by the worldwide increase in the numbers of people with dementia, says a report from the World Health Organization and Alzheimer’s Disease International.

The report, Dementia: a public health priority, says that low and middle income countries face the largest growth in numbers of people with the disease over the coming years but warns that these countries do not have the workforce or infrastructure to cope with the problem.
