Re: Public perception of overweight

The comparison between self-reported perception of overweight in 1999 and 2007 should convey the message that most persons who are presently deemed as 'overweight' are happy knowing that they are healthy and that their weight is possibly due to healthy nutrition which stems directly or indirectly from greatly improved food technologies, improved knowledge of nutrition, and improved knowledge of diseases and disorders that are related to macro- and/or micro-nutrient deficiencies. It is only those who are unhealthy e.g.diabetics,that reduction of weight if at all 'overweight', should be of concern. The global slogan of 'obesity epidemic' should be out-lawed, and the 'healthy eating' message must be encouraged, along with excercise and activity.
