I salute the Ig Nobel prize 2008 winners for the discovery that Coca Cola is an effective spermicide (1), and the yet more urgent discovery that it is not (2). Promising results are however emerging relating the contraceptive effect of Coca Cola bottle caps. The cap is administered between the knees of the woman and firmly secured. It appears this technique is very efficient to avoid unwanted pregnancies both in resource poor settigs and in industrialized countries.
