Re: Trans-fats in chips and cookies

All bought food from supermarkets should have its small-print examined for the presence of Trans-fats disguised as "Veg. Oils, Veg. Solids, Veg. fats," and Margarine which is an industrial grease and has no business in our bodies. Even butter gets adulterated with undefined "Veg. Oils".

Time to call a halt to the propaganda that ALL these "dehydrogenated" vegetable oils are good for you!

They are not. They just clog up everything and never get out again.

Look at our Milk Chocolate, the spreads, dips, sauces and mayonnaises, creamers, cake-mixes, biscuits and cookies. Ice-cream too all have these adulterated food substitutes in them. Read that tiny print.

It is no wonder the kids are overweight if they consume Bio-fuels.

Olive Oil is the only vegetable oil one should use. The others are for Dr. Diesel's engines.

If the kids are going to eat any fat at all then see that it has a "natural organic" origin, i.e. from good butter and cream, eggs, pork lard and beef-dripping, and olive oil.

Bake your own cakes and pastries.

Then listen for the screams from the Palm Oil industry. It has a very powerful propaganda machine.

They should concentrate on making Soap.

Re: Re: Trans-fats in chips and cookies

George Y Caldwell....Good to see someone understanding the vital importance of correct lipid ingestion and the myth that saturated animal fats are not what we require, in moderation of course. They have spent long enough taking the rap for trans fats. The balance of Omega 3 to 6 is so far out now in most western diets, that the health repercussions are extensive.

However, I disagree with your statement: "Olive Oil is the only vegetable oil one should use. The others are for Dr. Diesel's engines.".Firstly, this is not an oil to be cooking with, due to its degradation on heating. One of the most beneficial lipids...and a saturated fat... is Coconut oil and the information on it's positivity is widely available.Probably the most suitable oil to cook with.If more of us gained a greater proportion of our energy needs from saturated fats instead of carbs, we would have a far healthier population in many respects.Check out insulin/leptin functions if in any doubt, not to mention thousands of years of history! ... everything seems to be 'low fat' now....except the population. . .Why is this not ringing loud bells?

Obesity in children and for that matter, adults, is a problem that will continue to worsen and over-burden the NHS because the causes are not being addressed.

The 'food' industry will continue to sell to us vast quantities of processed junk, full of sugars, HFCS, sweetners, carbohydrates and other noxious concoctions......the sedentary habits aren't improving......and the neccesity of returning to eating stomach-sized portions of real, natural foods, won't happen whilst we still have official dietry ignorance advocating that, "a third of your plate should be starchy carbohydrates".No it shouldn't. Finally, adequate exercise, clean water and real food.. that comes wrapped in it's skin which nature provided, is the only way to reduce the soaring obesity problem and unfortunately, that is not about to happen any time soon.
