Re: A Similar View in My Family

Hi ... what a wonderful article ... it reminded me of my sister-in- law's oft-quoted (at least in our family of husband+wife+two daughters) life summation ... "I have enough to eat and no one is shooting at me."

Re: Puzzled

I am puzzled by the purpose, and theme, of this article - is it about freedom, or privilege?

Re: Freedom is precious

Ms. Blacks storytelling is an all too familiar account what many of us experience in our lifetimes. Less we not forget how precious this 'gift' of freedom truly is.

Re: Lesson for first world students

Well written and bravely said. With our universal access to an increasingly modern health service in the UK, the broader picture is often overlooked. My students will be sent a copy as required reading.

Re: Thank you

Thank you Mary Black for your simple, but poignant article.

Privilege is simply good fortune. Freedom is a necessity, something I suspect most of us take for granted.

Articles such as this provide a timely reality check. I shall read it every time I feel life is getting a little complicated.
