Practice based commissioning (PBC) is indeed unexiting. There is too little support to work out ideas and financial and other activity data are of poor quality and slow to come by. PBC in our area is a farce where the Primary Care Trust to a large part dictates what should be commissioned. This is obviously completely opposite to the principle of PBC and is stifling any creativity and enthusiasm. The sluggish bureaucratic processes are equally to blame.
