Re: Effectiveness in endemic areas?

Studies have shown that the protective action of DEET is around 300mts(ref1) and that of oil of eucalyptis is around 3.7hrs.(ref2).But does the protection just for a few hours on the mosquito nets going to help as a preventive tool in disease control in endemic areas? Will these topical applications be as effective to prevent the bites for a long term outweighing the side effects of the preparations?
