Presumed consent

Presumed consent is not ethical - a marketing deceit responsible for the tons of unwanted junk mail that fills our bins - and not worthy of the medical profession.

The best way to increase organ donation is to educate the public by example. If all healthcare workers signed up to organ donation this would not only boost supplies, but reassure people that there were no drawbacks. Perhaps pathologists and transplant staff should give the lead?

Of course, if there were significant drawbacks, these would be spelled out in the 'honest and transparent' information leaflets. Wouldn't they?
