I agree with part of Dr Spence's opinion. If Scotland was to part ways it should not be for trivial anti- English sentiments, however annoying are the English. (The answer to the Trivial Pursuits question 'the longest river in England?' is the Tay, and as we all know the Queen is not Queen Elizabeth 2).

The question of Thatcher is harder to know. She managed to destroy Scotland's heavy industry, and started the process, being completed by Blair, of ruining the National Health Service in Britain. I do not believe for a minute that privatistion of General Practice and Private Finance Initiative funding of hospitals is in the interests of good practice or long term financial health, and I'm certain the majority of Scots would agree with me.

The Scots are not fundamentally anti-English, but they have, without doubt, differences in political perspective with the South East of England which are hard to resolve.
