I was disappointed that the authors did not realise that there is a wealth of research from Primary care on doctor-patient communication. A good example is 'Skills for Communicating with Patients' by Jonathan Silverman, Suzanne Kurtz and Juliet Draper.

Good communication improves traditional medical outcomes as well as patient satisfaction.
