There is nothing that local radio, TV, and newspapers like more than a "heroic" cancer sufferer forcing a Trust to give her (and it is usually a her) the drug that will "save her life". Their one dimensional reporting is worth far more than drug company lobbyists tapping ministers on the shoulder. Competing interests: None declared
