Angela Raffle only mentioned in passing one of the most frustrating aspects of this undermining of healthcare planning: the reaction of the media, especially the local media. There is nothing that local radio, TV, and newspapers like more than a "heroic" cancer sufferer forcing a Trust to give her (and it is usually a her) the drug that will "save her life". Their one dimensional reporting is worth far more than drug company lobbyists tapping ministers on the shoulder.
