My comment is regarding the front page, rather than the editorial itself. I realise that this illustration may not have been chosen by the author. The whole hand is not shown, but the incision appears to be much more radial than that practised and recommended by the majority of hand surgeons, ie. in line with the radial border of the 4th metacarpal. This incision appears to curve around the edge of the thenar eminence. I have come across this incision several times over the last few years - in revision surgery for median nerve or motor branch injury and incomplete decompression, usually performed in ISTCs. Perhaps this incision is therefore also related to the thenar atrophy shown?
