To me it seems improbable that it is the result of smoking that increases the risk of developing glucose intolerence/diabetes. To me it is indicative that people who smoke or are in a frequently smokey environment are prone to making poor lifestyle choices; thus including poor diet which is a more conclusive study into young adult onset diabetes. (obviously a large generalisation on my part but none the less truthful)
