We have used melatonin as part of multimodal therapy for inducing sleep in ITU patients.It has worked in three out of three patients we used,giving us a hundred percent success rate.Though this is a very small number to say anything substantial,but certainly the result is encouraging.We used melatonin only after traditional sedatives proved ineffective in those three patients.The use of melatonin was along with other sedatives and not on its own.
