Re: Indegenous solution to high neonatal mortality in India

Dr. Vinod Paul has raised a very pertinent subject. India leads the world in terms of absolute number of neonates dying every year. The policy makers, professional bodies and community are slowly realizing that the solution to this ill should emerge with in the country. Lot of thinking is going in. The government of India and professional organization like National Neonatology Forum are working hard to find an answer to high neonatal mortality. Reproductive and Child Health II program, which is scheduled to be launched in the year 2005 is one such attempt. The success of this program lies in the local adaptation of available evidences.
