It would be useful to know why people are acknowledged or thanked for their contribution to articles. The judgments we make about material presented is effected by the contributors' position and background. eg Are all the persons thanked for reading the article first, members of Consumers for Research Ethics? They have a certain take on issues but are an informal voluntary group - or did they contribute as members of UCLH? There is no declaration of their interests.
