It is a shame the "Parathyroidectomy doesn't cure renal stone disease" headline of the 'This Week in BMJ" (http://bmj.com/cgi/content/full/325/7368/0/e) doesn't match the optimistic conclusions of the authors of the study.

One also has to ask if this is a controlled study. Shouldn't the control have been someone with PTH but left untreated? It could be that not undergoing surgery might have resulted in the same outcome. We'll never know.
