I read with interest that Dr. Rubery cites parents should have the option of choosing single doses of the MMR vaccine. She states that fear of autism has forced many parents to forego vaccination entirely, but if single doses were allowed, more parents would vaccinate.

What she fails to notice is that more parents indeed would vaccinate with single doses - but not because of the MMR-autism link. Unlike the MMR vaccine, the single doses of measles and mumps are not derived from aborted fetal tissue either - a fact that has nearly half a million Americans protesting their use.

The single dose measles and mumps are derived from chick embryo. The rubella vaccine importable from Japan uses rabbit cell lines. Want more people to vaccinate? Give them the moral choices and they will.
