Re: Compliance blames the victim

The culture of medicine too frequently blames the vicitim i.e the patieint. A chief COMPLAINT is pejorative.. to describe some one as "a poor historian" or with "atypical cheat pain" means that the patient's comments do not fit into the textbook of Medicine. Compliance par excellance blames the patient. I teach and believe that when a pateint does not "adhere to the medical regimen" it is the doctor who has failed.

For those who watch American basketball know Phil Jackson the coach never told Michael Jordan how to play basketball. You can quote me.. The doctor is a coach and when the patient does not follow through the physician has failed to comply with the needs of the patient.
