I agree with the points made in the letter. Every neurology service should have access to specialist liaison psychiatry but this is obviously easier said than done. I know of someone who was referred to a neurologist by their GP, and when all the investigations did not reveal anything of an organic nature, he asked whether he could see a psychiatrist. He was refused, and was told 'you can't have both!'Incidentally the neurologist had suggested he needed some form of psychiatric evaluation.

Neuropsychiatrists would also be very helpful in this area. It seems the role of Neuropsychiatry is not clearly defined, along with that of Neuropsychologists and they are also in short supply!
