This is an eminently suitable procedure for a GP. Before trying it I would like to have at hand a simple guide (preferably 1 sheet of A4), which could be a laminated cut-down version of the article. Additional information to help me would be the amount of time to allow for an appointment (presumably more than my usual 6.5 mins!), and other practical points - e.g. the need to get to both sides of the couch (all our couches are against a wall). Is such a guide available? If not, I think it would be of great value to GPs, who deal with the vast majority of patients with BPV. I would be happy to collaborate in producing such a guide (after I have done both procedures a few times). Competing interests:   None declared
