    Summer time, and the hair removal business is in full strip-off swing. Salons offer waxing from toes to eyebrows, and no longer is it only women and Tour de France cyclists who are proffering their sprouting legs in exchange for smoothness and pain but the modern male too. Wayne Rooney showing off a hairless torso at the World Cup confirmed something festering in my head ever since an Iranian lady wielding a long cotton thread for facial hair removal once whispered in my ear, “You see, we think hair is really dirty.” That’s why we rip it off. Ouch.
