Medicine should have a part time entry route, says head of Health Education England

Candidates with healthcare related degrees should be able to complete a medical degree while continuing to work, the chief executive of Health Education England (HEE) has said.
Speaking to The BMJ after a Westminster Health Conference event on 25 October, Ian Cumming said, “I want us to find a part time route to medicine. We want to be able to offer people who have got degrees in other healthcare related degrees—be that pharmacy or physiotherapy, nursing or clinical science—the opportunity to become a doctor without necessarily having to leave and go full time to medical school.”
