Sumit R Majumdar: Clinician-researcher who aimed to improve patient care through knowledge transfer

Sumit R Majumdar (“Me2”) was born in in Tucson, Arizona, but spent most of his life and career in Alberta, Canada. As a professor in the University of Alberta’s department of medicine, he combined being a clinician, teacher, and researcher. “People in Boston couldn’t believe it was possible, but he did it,” said Robert Fletcher, one of his mentors at Harvard Medical School and later a colleague.

His other mentor at Harvard (where Majumdar was a visiting professor), Stephen B Soumerai, said, “I never knew anyone who was more of a gentleman than Me2.
