NHS at 60—Universality, equity, and quality of care

An error occurred in the second article of this series on the NHS by Tony Delamothe (BMJ 2008;336:1278-81, 7 Jun, doi: 10.1136/bmj.a169). The article wrongly states that Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust spent the least on cancer per cancer patient in 2006-7 (in fact, Dorset did). This error arose from a mistake in the Department of Health’s cancer-spend data for 2006-7 (an error now acknowledged by the department) that was reiterated in a recent Civitas Review article, from which Delamothe drew this information.
