We have been pulled up by a reader for our use of language in this editorial by Hugh Markus (BMJ 2007;335:359-60, 25 Aug, doi: 10.1136/bmj.39296.711563.AD). We let through "neolistic" for "nihilistic," and in the final paragraph we should have said physiological variables [not parameters].
