Gulf war veterans have poorer health than other soldiers...

Eleven years after the conflict, the veterans of the 1990-1 Gulf war continue to have poorer health than other military personnel. The Gulf War Illnesses Research Group (p 1370) followed up their 1997 survey comparing Gulf war veterans, peacekeepers in Bosnia, and military personnel deployed elsewhere in the world. These researchers found a moderate reduction in the prevalence of fatigue, post-traumatic stress reaction, Gulf war syndrome, and mental disorders detected on the general health questionnaire among Gulf war veterans, who continue to have poorer health than other military personnel—however, their symptoms are not getting worse.
