Divergent views on drug prescribing influence concordance

This week's Education and debate section contains a series of articles on the theme of concordance. Heath (p 856) describes the new Medicines Partnership of the UK Department of Health, which aims to move away from models of drug compliance, which assume obedience on the part of the patient. Sanz (p 858) discusses the special challenges of prescribing for children, such as involving parents while ensuring the autonomy and responsibility of the child. On page 861 a group of authors representing patients, doctors, and the pharmaceutical industry debate who is in the best position to provide complete and accurate drug information.
