All time low for gynaecology

Fewer doctors than ever intend to go into obstetrics and gynaecology after graduation. Lambert and colleagues (p 194), questioning 8494 graduates in 1999 and 2000 about their future careers, found that concerns about career prospects means there is a huge drop in doctors going into this specialty. A quarter of graduates surveyed had doubts about practising medicine in the United Kingdom. Such data will be help to determine whether future requirements in different specialties are likely to be met from UK sources.
