Babywalkers delay infant development

Babywalkers are associated with significant delay in achieving normal locomotor milestones. In a cross sectional study of 190 normal healthy infants, Garrett and colleagues (p 1494) found that crawling, standing alone, and walking alone occurred later in infants using babywalkers. Strong associations were also found between the amount of babywalker use and the extent of developmental delay. They suggest that the use of babywalkers should be discouraged.
