Bullying can lead to emotional problems in teenagers

In a prospective cohort study, Bond et al (p 480) found that a history of victimisation was a strong predictor of the onset of self reported symptoms of anxiety or depression in the early teenage years and remained so after adjustment for other measures of social relations. This was especially the case for girls. These findings imply that reducing bullying in schools could have a substantial impact on the emotional wellbeing of young people
