Ginkgo biloba does not help tinnitus

Herbal treatments like extracts of Ginkgo biloba are becoming increasingly popular. It has been suggested that ginkgo may be effective in treating tinnitus, yet the existing evidence is not conclusive. On p 73 Drew and Davies report the results of the largest trial of ginkgo for treatment of tinnitus. A total of 559 patients were treated with 150 mg ginkgo extract for 12 weeks and 562 received placebo. The authors found that there was no difference in symptoms between the two groups.
