Abnormal semen characteristics increase risk of testicular cancer

Further evidence of a link between testicular cancer and low spermatogenesis in men comes from a large cohort study of more than 30 000 men in infertile couples. Jacobsen et al (p 789) found a strong association between abnormal semen characteristics and subsequent risk of testicular cancer. Men in couples with fertility problems were 1.6 times more likely to develop testicular cancer than the Danish male population in general.
