Lower urinary tract symptoms follow a variable course

The prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms in women is high, and various factors are believed to be responsible. But little is known about the clinical course of lower urinary tract symptoms despite this knowledge being clinically relevant. On p 1429 Møller et al show a 10% incidence of lower urinary tract symptoms and a 30% remisson rate in a normal population of 2284 perimenopausal women. Further studies are needed to understand why these changes occur so that appropriate decisions about treatment can be made.
