Lung cancer risk from passive smoking may be overestimated

A systematic review that reported a 24% increase in risk of lung cancer among women whose partners were smokers may have overestimated the risk. Copas and Shi reanalysed the data from the 37 included studies and found strong evidence of publication bias (p 417). Taking the publication bias into account reduced the excess risk of lung cancer to 15%.
